It provides OE (original equipment) / dealer level enhanced OBDII scanning of all the Electronic Control Modules found throughout the car such as ABS, SRS and much more. Unlike basic diagnostic tools which are based on the generic OBDII interface and limited to providing engine information.

Easily perform an enhanced scan of faults across all modules. Get detailed information regarding the fault and an option to clear it.

Workshop professionals can use this tool to quickly diagnose issues whilst DIYers can also benefit by saving money on diagnostics checks as well as staying on top of issues before they begin to fester.

Electronic Control Module (ECM) Coding

ECM modules also known as Electronic Control Units (ECU) are dotted throughout a car. Types of ECM include Engine Control Module (ECM), Powertrain Control Module (PCM), Transmission Control Module (TCM), Brake Control Module (BCM or EBCM) and Central Control Module (CCM).

These modules perform various functions such as computing the required amount of fuel injected and when to spark the coil in order to start the engine. They collectively work together to form the on-board computer even sharing data via data lines.

Unlike other tools, the VDubDiag Scan tool supports bidirectional communication capabilities, reading and writing to all ECMs. This means it is able to carry out actuation tests of components such as doors, windows, wipers etc to check if they are working correctly.

Code to adapt or unlock hidden features

Coding is aimed at more advanced users and workshop professionals. It allows you to modify the pre-programmed options in each ECM. It is also known as re-flashing. For example, after replacement of certain parts, the relevant ECM needs to be re-programmed in order to adapt to the new part. An example of this is, injector coding. When new injectors are replaced, the old values need to be adapted to the new values.

Many pre-programmed options can be modified and overridden; for example turning off the automatic engine start-stop system or changing the speedometer to show the speed digitally and much more.

VDubDiag tool is an extremely powerful tool. A tool is only as good as the hands that wield it. For most DIYers, diagnostics and basic adaptations can be used safely with very little risk. However, the more advanced features such as coding and resetting carry a high level of risk. If used in the incorrect manner, it could render the ECU inoperable, requiring a reflash.

Some maintenance functions can cause a failure or even damage if the correct procedures aren't followed. For example, when replacing brake pads using the electronic parking brake retraction function, it is advised to use a battery charger, since the retraction process draws significant power, in the event of the car battery failing, the EPB module will fail and will require re-calibration. In other cases not following the correct procedure can cause damage to the EPB mechanism.

Utilising such functions requires specialist knowledge and is recommended for workshop professionals and users who have done their research and know the correct procedures and are aware of the risks involved.
